Drone

No, in practice. Morocco bans the import of drones for security reasons, and a drone found in your luggage can be seized on arrival. Flying over monuments, the royal palace or the ramparts is out of the question. Take photos with your phone: see photos in Marrakech, rules and etiquette.

Unmarried couple

Sex outside marriage is punished by the Moroccan penal code. For foreign couples, tourist hotels and riads generally do not ask for a marriage certificate, but some places may, especially if one of the two is Moroccan or Muslim. Be discreet: no public displays of affection. See also romantic Marrakech.

Medication

Personal treatment is allowed: keep it in its original packaging with the prescription and bring only the quantity for your stay. For psychotropics and opiates, check with your embassy first. Details in health in Marrakech.

Alcohol, tobacco, drugs

Photos, dress, behaviour

Jemaa el-Fna square, where you photograph with discretion

Ask permission before photographing a person, and do not photograph military or police buildings. No beachwear in town: what to wear in Marrakech.

Criticising the king, religion

Criticising the monarchy or Islam in public or on social media is a criminal offence and a sensitive subject. Avoid these topics with strangers.

Other: fake guides, fraud, traffic

Fake guides are officially forbidden, and the tourist police may step in. For the road and traffic fines, see car rental in Marrakech.

What to do in case of a fine or arrest

Stay calm, ask to contact your embassy, do not sign a document in a language you do not understand, and ask for a receipt for any fine paid on the spot. More rules in rules and etiquette.
