The Tiskiwin Museum presents the collection assembled by the Dutch anthropologist Bert Flint, who settled in Marrakech in 1957, in his house on Rue de la Bahia, between the Bahia Palace and Dar Si Said. Opened in 1996, it displays jewellery, textiles, carpets, tents and everyday objects from rural Morocco, the Sahara and West Africa, arranged as a journey along the old caravan routes from Marrakech to Timbuktu. In 2006, Bert Flint donated the house and the collection to Cadi Ayyad University. The museum has been closed since 2023, the year of the Al Haouz earthquake: the university lists it as "closed for maintenance", and no reopening date had been announced when we checked in October 2026.
Highlights

Bert Flint's house
The museum occupies a traditional white-walled riad with wooden-grilled windows, stucco friezes and cedar ceilings. The house itself is part of the visit.

The desert tent and carpets
A reconstructed nomad tent, furnished with carpets, cushions and utensils, shows the life of the peoples of the Sahara. The weavings recall the exchanges between Morocco and the regions south of the desert.

The carved doors from Mali
Carved wooden doors from Mali, decorated with riders and figures, represent West Africa in the collection. They illustrate Bert Flint's interest in the decorative arts on both sides of the Sahara.

Tips
The museum is closed and Cadi Ayyad University has announced no reopening date: do not plan this stop without checking on site. Some guides mention a move to a new building in the same neighbourhood, with no official announcement so far. The opening hours and prices of the former museum no longer apply. Part of the collection can still be browsed on the online museum created by Bert Flint. Right next door, the Bahia Palace is open every day.
