Where to stay in Marrakech at a glance

The reference properties are Hotel Central Palace and Riad hotel Cecil near Jemaa el-Fna; Equity Point Marrakech in Mouassine; Dar Attajmil in Laksour; The Central House Marrakech Medina in the northern medina; Hotel Almas in Guéliz; La Mamounia near Bab Jdid; and Les Deux Tours in the Palmeraie.

How this selection was made

We selected 12 properties with an active official website or an identifiable Booking listing in 2026, comparing location, advertised facilities and accessible prices. This is an editorial shortlist, rather than a ranking based on personally tested stays. The drawbacks mainly describe practical compromises: walking access, distance from sights, shared bathrooms or the cost of services.

Price note: these are ballpark figures for a double room, taken from comparison sites and starting prices; they vary a lot with the season and dates. Check the exact price for your dates on Booking before you book.

SOURCES.md records the evidence and the checks that could not be completed. For Les Deux Tours, converting MAD 2,822 to around €256 uses a rounded reference rate of €1 = MAD 11.03; your bank may apply a different rate. The taxi access points below are practical landmarks; ask the hotel to confirm the exact drop-off.

Budget hotels and hostels

The best budget compromise depends on what you are comfortable sharing. Around Jemaa el-Fna, a small room lets you walk back after dinner; in Guéliz, car access is easier, but you need to factor in trips to the medina. Compare the same room category and cancellation terms, rather than two headline prices.

Hotel Neighbourhood Taxi / transport access Indicative price per night Strengths Drawbacks
Hotel Central Palace Sidi Bouloukate, central medina Edge of Jemaa el-Fna, then walk €20-56 Terrace, round-the-clock reception, central location Some rooms have shared bathrooms; simple comfort
Riad hotel Cecil Sidi Bouloukate, central medina Edge of Jemaa el-Fna, then walk €60-89 Advertised air conditioning, terrace, close to the square Lively surroundings; check the booked category and bathroom
Hotel Almas Guéliz, Avenue Moulay Rachid Taxi to the address; station reachable by taxi €51-74 Lift, air conditioning, nearby shops Official website says the pool is under development; medina visits require a journey

At Central Palace, private versus shared bathrooms explain some price differences. At Cecil, confirm the category and request a room away from passing guests if you sleep early. At Almas, have pool opening confirmed for your dates: the official website and comparison sites disagree.

Hostels: dorm bed or private room

The two hostels offer a choice between sociable shared accommodation and privacy. Equity Point's website confirms dorms, private rooms and a pool, but a reliable per-bed price could not be isolated. We therefore give only the private-room range accessible in the consulted results. The Central House's official starting prices clearly distinguish beds from rooms.

Hostel Neighbourhood Taxi / transport access Indicative price per night Strengths Drawbacks
Equity Point Marrakech Mouassine, Derb El Hammam Confirm drop-off towards Dar el-Bacha, then lanes Private room €58-125; bed price to check Pool, terraces, bar and restaurant, dorms Final approach on foot; communal atmosphere; bed price unverified
The Central House Marrakech Medina Amssafah, northern medina Confirm drop-off towards Moukef, then walk Bed €11-17; double room €44-137 Air conditioning, round-the-clock reception, dorms and private rooms Starting prices without guaranteed dates; shared bathrooms in dorms

A private group room is not necessarily a double. Central House's €44-137 covers several doubles and a suite for two; family rooms start at €120 for four. Check occupancy, age restrictions and, in dorms, any extras for towels, padlocks, breakfast and luggage storage.

Tips for spending less

  • Compare the full stay: add accommodation, taxes, breakfast and transfers. A slightly pricier central riad may save several taxi rides. Our Marrakech travel budget guide helps plan spending beyond the room.
  • Keep your dates flexible: compare different dates and refundable versus prepaid offers. A promotion shown in search results may have expired; treat it as confirmed only when it appears in the payment summary.
  • Check extras: ask for the total taxes per person per night, any extra-bed charges and the breakfast price. Inclusions vary by offer; this guide does not apply a single tax amount to every hotel.
  • Assess the actual journey: in the medina, ask where the taxi stops, how far you must carry luggage and whether someone can meet you. For a resort, compare return-trip costs and the timetable of any shuttle.
  • Book the right room: one property may offer shared bathrooms, small doubles and suites at very different prices. If you are deciding between a traditional house and an urban hotel, see riad or hotel in Marrakech.

Mid-range hotels offering good value

Three properties meet different needs: Hôtel Racine for an urban hotel with an advertised pool; Dar Attajmil for a small medina house; and 2Ciels Luxury Boutique Hotel & Spa for a more comfortable stay with a spa. Price categories overlap: a cheap rate on one day does not make the whole property a budget hotel.

Hotel Neighbourhood Taxi / transport access Indicative price per night Strengths Drawbacks
Hôtel Racine Guéliz, towards the western medina Taxi to the address, Avenue Oum Rabiaa / Rue Ibn Atia €74-107 Advertised pool and terrace, between new town and medina Urban setting; reconfirm pool and treatments for your dates
Dar Attajmil Laksour, western medina Confirm drop-off towards Bab Laksour, then walk €95-125, mid-season, breakfast included Small four-room house, heating and air conditioning Upstairs rooms; limited capacity, final approach on foot
2Ciels Luxury Boutique Hotel & Spa Guéliz, Harti area, near Hivernage Taxi to the address, Rue Oued El Makhazine €164-328 Art Deco décor, spa, dining, connecting rooms offered Upper end of the range; urban setting, journey to the medina

Dar Attajmil publishes mid-season rates of €95 for Junior rooms, €115 for Nomads and €125 for Tea, for two with breakfast. This is a firmer comparison than an unspecified room price, but does not guarantee those rates apply in October. Request a quote for the exact room. Racine and 2Ciels ranges come from offers and comparison sites: check cancellation, meals and spa access separately.

Luxury hotels and palaces

Alongside La Mamounia and Les Deux Tours, Four Seasons Resort Marrakech and Royal Mansour Marrakech cater to different wishes: resort services and the privacy of a palace riad. Location remains crucial: Bab Jdid makes medina outings easier, while the Palmeraie favours spending time in gardens.

La Mamounia, Four Seasons and Royal Mansour references concern September 2026 and were consulted in October: immediate availability is not guaranteed. Royal Mansour's entry category is already an independent riad, making comparison with an ordinary double difficult. At Les Deux Tours, the official dirham amount takes precedence over its conversion.

Best hotels in Marrakech: quick picks by traveller type

  • Couples: Dar Attajmil, €95-125 in mid-season, for a small house and sightseeing on foot.
  • Families: Four Seasons for resort services; 2Ciels if you want connecting rooms, subject to confirmation. A double-room price is not a family price.
  • Small budget: Central Palace, €20-56, checking bathroom arrangements; Central House, bed €11-17, if a dorm suits you.
  • First visit: Dar Attajmil in Laksour or Cecil near Jemaa el-Fna, depending on budget and how much quiet you want.
  • Luxury: La Mamounia for gardens and access to the centre; Royal Mansour for a private riad; Les Deux Tours for relaxation.

How to choose for your travel style

Start with the pace of your trip. If you leave early to explore and return after dinner, pay for location and a room suited to sleeping. If you plan long days at the hotel, focus on the pool, gardens, space and dining. Jemaa el-Fna square is a useful sightseeing landmark, but a nearby address does not guarantee silence.

With children or limited mobility, check the exact room, steps and car access. A hotel lift does not guarantee access to every facility; a private riad may have several floors. Plan your journey from the airport and have the property confirm the meeting point. Our guide to getting around Marrakech helps assess everyday journeys.
