What about the taxi or bus 19?

Figures taken from our airport guide (October 2026):

Option Price Time to Jemaa el-Fna
Counter taxi 100 to 160 DH per vehicle depending on zone, plus 50% at night 15 to 25 min
Bus 19 30 DH one way (check on board) 25 to 40 min

The official taxi has a fixed price per zone and often costs about as much as a private transfer booked online: the advantage of the private transfer is the driver waiting with a name sign and flight tracking. More on taxis and buses and scams to avoid.

What is not included and the pitfalls

  • The medina is pedestrian: the car drops you at the edge of the medina, leaving 5 to 10 minutes on foot with luggage (some drivers call the riad). Tell your riad your arrival time.
  • Distance: beyond about 6 km a surcharge may apply.
  • Departure: the driver may collect you about 3 hours before your flight.
  • Flight number: give it when booking.
  • Very low prices: be wary of listings at $7 to $9, which vary by date.

Which offer to choose?

  • Couple or small group: the Menara one-way transfer.
  • Family of 4 to 7: check the capacity shown on each listing.
  • Night or delayed flight: check on the listing whether flight tracking is included.
  • Riad deep in the medina: a private transfer, then the riad's guide for the last stretch on foot.
  • Solo with light luggage: bus 19.

Another option is a private transfer pre-booked with Welcome Pickups: the price is fixed before you travel, an English-speaking driver meets you in arrivals with a sign, and they track your flight, so a delay does not lose you the pickup. Their page lists a taxi to the centre at ~100 MAD (October 2026); the transfer price is calculated on their site from your address. If you travel alone with light luggage, there is a cheaper way: bus 19 (30 DH) or the taxi from the airport counter. The private transfer is worth it mainly for a night arrival, a family, heavy luggage or a first visit; read the cancellation terms before paying.

Booking at the right time

Book before you leave and arrange the return separately: most listings are one-way. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before is stated on at least one of the offers. You can also compare with a taxi or transfer booked in advance on Booking.com.
