At the foot of the Koutoubia Mosque, a few minutes' walk from Jemaa el-Fna square, Lalla Hasna Park is a public garden laid out with pools and paths lined with rose bushes, palms and orange trees. Entry is free. It is the easiest garden to reach from the center of the medina: you stop here to get into the shade, sit on a bench and look at the minaret, away from the bustle of the square. It is used mostly by locals, who come as families at the end of the day.
Highlights

The paths and pools
The park is organized around regular paths, pools and flowerbeds. You will find rose bushes, palms and orange trees. It is a quiet, well-kept place for a stroll, where shade is easy to find.

The Koutoubia minaret
From around the park you can see the minaret of the Koutoubia Mosque, an Almohad tower from the 12th century. The inside of the mosque is reserved for Muslim worshippers, but its surroundings and gardens are freely accessible.

Tips
Entry is free. Opening hours are not posted consistently: the park is generally open from sunrise to sunset, so count on daytime only. There is little food on site: bring water. To extend your walk, go on to the much larger Menara Gardens, or read our selection of gardens in Marrakech. The park is a good break with children; our guide Marrakech with children has more ideas.
