The Bahia Palace: for the decoration

The Bahia Palace is the choice for preserved decoration: zellige tilework, carved stucco, painted cedar ceilings, courtyards and gardens. Many rooms are empty of furniture: the architecture is the point.
The El Badi Palace: for history and views

The El Badi Palace is a ruin: the great courtyard, the pools, the sunken gardens and the terraces overlooking the medina. It also houses the Koutoubia minbar. Choose it for Saadian history and photos.
Dar Si Said: closed
The Dar Si Said museum has been closed for restoration since the 2023 earthquake; its reopening was not confirmed in October 2026. Do not count on it.
Which one to choose?
- One palace only: the Bahia, for the decoration.
- Two palaces: Bahia and El Badi, ten minutes' walk apart.
- Short on time: the Bahia, which takes an hour.
- With children: El Badi (storks, stairs, room to walk).
Traps
Fake guides sometimes claim a palace is closed: check at the entrance. Tickets are sold at the ticket office or on the Ministry of Culture's online ticketing.
