| App | Drivers | Price | Our view |
|---|---|---|---|
| Uber | Licensed professionals | Shown before the ride | Preferred |
| Heetch | Official taxis | Per the app | Fine |
| inDrive | Often private, unlicensed | Negotiated in the app | Avoid |
| Careem | Presence in Marrakech unconfirmed | Not verified | Do not count on it |
Why not inDrive?
The price is negotiated in the app, which is appealing. The risk lies elsewhere: a private individual carrying passengers without a licence has no matching insurance. Checks exist, and after an accident cover is uncertain. For a few dirhams' difference, it is not worth it.
When to prefer the petit taxi?
In the medina many lanes are closed to cars: a ride-hailing car drops you at the edge, like a taxi. The beige metered petit taxi remains very cheap if the driver switches the meter on. The meter rules and the 50% night surcharge are in getting around Marrakech and petit taxi, bus or carriage.
From the airport
For arrival at Marrakech-Menara, compare an official-rate taxi, Uber and the bus: the comparison is in airport to the centre. For a pre-booked transfer, a private driver avoids any haggling.
Private transfer with Welcome Pickups. You book in advance at a fixed price, an English-speaking driver waits in arrivals with a sign, and the flight is tracked so the driver waits if you land late. Example seen on their site on 30 October 2026: a sedan for up to 4 people to the city centre from €17. Their site lists free cancellation up to 24 hours before the ride. If you travel alone, by day and with a light bag, the cheaper public option described on this page is usually better; the private transfer is worth it for a night arrival, a family, heavy luggage or a first visit.
Which option to choose?
- Safety and a known price: Uber.
- In the medina: metered petit taxi.
- Late arrival or group: pre-booked private transfer.
App availability: check in each app on the day of travel.
