Private one-day tour: the most flexible

This option is a private guided walking tour of the medina and souks. Price, duration and programme: see the listing.

Full-day guided tour, medina and gardens

This day tour combines the medina with gardens of the city. It saves you organising transport between districts, which helps in summer when the heat is tiring. We did not record its price: check the exact programme and finish time.

Saadian Tombs and Bahia: the historical tour

This walk focuses on the Saadian Tombs and the Bahia Palace, then the medina. It is rated about 4.6 from over 2,000 reviews in the snapshot we saw, for about $33. Listings usually state that entry (about 100 MAD per monument) is paid separately: read the "included" section before paying.

Bahia, Saadian Tombs, Souk and Medina: the best seller

This tour links the Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, the souks and the medina, at €24.12, with 4.7 from 7,747 reviews. It is the best balance of content and price for a first visit. Plan to pay entry separately if it is not included.

Ben Youssef, Secret Garden and Souks: the cheapest

This walk heads to the north of the medina: Ben Youssef Madrasa, Secret Garden and souks, at €20.00, rated 4.6 from 4,788 reviews. It complements the southern tour (Bahia, Saadian Tombs) rather than replacing it.

What is not included, and the pitfalls

  • Entry tickets: about 100 MAD per monument on the listings we read, often paid in cash. Another local-guide listing, seen at about $33 but with only 12 reviews, gives contradictory information about tickets: check it.
  • Ticket only: a Bahia Palace ticket with audioguide exists at €14.90 but is rated only 3.9 from 1,156 reviews; it is not a guided tour.
  • Queues and renovations: queues are possible at the Saadian Tombs, and parts of the Bahia may be closed.
  • Shops: souk tours often include stops at workshops. You are never obliged to buy; see scams to avoid.
  • Accessibility: narrow alleys and uneven ground, poorly suited to wheelchairs.
  • Tip: not included, see money and tipping.

Which offer to choose?

  • First visit: Bahia, Saadian Tombs, Souk and Medina.
  • Tight budget: Ben Youssef, Secret Garden and Souks.
  • Couple or family: the private one-day tour.
  • History lovers: the Saadian Tombs and Bahia tour.
  • Not keen to walk the souks alone: any guided offer, or an official licensed guide.

To prepare the day, see the medina guide and monument tickets and opening hours. All medina tours are gathered in the Marrakech: Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs, Souk and Medina Tour.
