Ouarzazate and Aït Ben Haddou day trip (shared or private)

This is the most booked offer. The day goes over the Tizi n'Tichka pass (2,260 m) and lasts 11 to 12 hours. According to the snapshots, the price covers transport in an air-conditioned vehicle with a driver; lunch and entrance fees are generally not included. Depending on the version, the visit to the ksar is free-roaming, and the stop in Ouarzazate covers the cinema museum, with the Atlas studios depending on the group's choice. A private option exists (from about $153, with higher snapshots at $244 or more per group). See the listing.

Private day trip to Aït Ben Haddou and Ouarzazate

A listing of about 10 hours, as a private group, with pickup and an English-speaking guide, that names the ksar, the Atlas studios and the Taourirt kasbah. It has only one review so far and we could not read a reliable price: ask for the rate and what it covers before booking. See the listing.

Day 2: Taourirt kasbah in Ouarzazate, Fint oasis, return in the afternoon. Rated 4.6 from 37 reviews. What is not included and the traps

  • The road: 3 h 30 to 4 h each way on a winding mountain road. One traveller found the day long for about two hours on site. Bring something to occupy yourself and get off the bus when the driver stops.
  • Lunch and entrances: often extra. The Atlas studios are a paid option on site. A local guide at the ksar (a few euros) is optional.
  • Real time at the ksar: ask how long you will have at Aït Ben Haddou, as some days shorten it in favour of Ouarzazate. See our pages on Aït-Ben-Haddou and the Atlas studios.
  • Mobility: the listings advise against the tour for people with reduced mobility (the climb up the ksar).
  • Winter: snow can disrupt the Tizi n'Tichka pass, see the Tizi n'Tichka pass.
  • The meeting point: if your riad is in the medina, the car cannot enter. One listing gives a meeting point in front of a café on Jemaa el-Fna square.

Which tour to choose?

If you would rather add the dunes, see the desert from Marrakech: Merzouga, Zagora or Agafay and our excursions from Marrakech. Renting a car is another option: car rental in Marrakech. You can compare car rentals before you go.

Booking at the right time

Spring and autumn offer the most pleasant temperatures. Book a few days ahead in high season, and avoid winter if the forecast shows snow on the pass. In summer, prefer an early start: the day is hot in Ouarzazate. The detour via the Telouet kasbah adds about an hour.
