Morocco Trip: the most booked tour
This listing is rated 4.9 from 23,862 reviews in our October 2026 check, from about €114. The route goes through the Atlas and Aït Benhaddou before the Erg Chebbi dunes. You choose a shared or private version, with a standard or luxury camp; the premium versions (luxury camp or private) were seen at €171 to €219. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before. Check what the option you pick includes (meals, quad, drinks) before paying.
Same route, different nights
All these offers follow the route described in our guide to the Merzouga desert from Marrakech. Day 1: leave around 7 am, cross the High Atlas over the Tizi n'Tichka pass, stop at Aït Benhaddou, then spend the night in a hotel in the Dadès valley or gorges. Day 2: Todra gorges, drive to Merzouga and a sunset camel ride to the camp. Day 3: sunrise over the dunes, then about 10 hours on the road to get back; the Ando Travel listing states a return around 8 pm. So the differences between offers lie in the camp, the meals, group size and extras, not in the scenery.
Ando Travel: the clearest choice
This offer is rated 4.7 from about 15,000 reviews and starts around $121 ($116 to $125 depending on the view). It offers a standard or luxury camp, breakfasts and dinners included, camel rides at sunset and sunrise, sandboarding and Berber music. Lunches are included only with one of the options; otherwise budget about €10 to €13 per meal. The local guide at Aït Benhaddou (about €2 per person), quad, buggy and the 4x4 transfer to the luxury camp are extra.
Camel ride and sandboarding: close, with a private option
This listing starts at $128 and follows the classic formula: hotel, a night in a camp in the Erg Chebbi, two breakfasts, two dinners, camel ride and sandboarding. Lunch is not included. Quads and buggies are rented locally, separately. The listing shows free cancellation up to 24 hours before and a private group option.
Private tent and meals: the cheapest
This offer was seen between $44 and $79 depending on the page. It includes breakfasts and dinners, with a standard or luxury camp to choose, and states that lunches (about €10 to €12) are not included. The price gap between displays is large: check exactly what the fare contains for your date.
Luxury camp: comfort, but few reviews
This offer emphasises the second night in a luxury camp, with dinner and breakfast. It is rated 4.8, but from only 8 reviews, which is too few to judge. We did not record its price; comparable luxury tours were seen between $115 and $156. Pick it if camp comfort matters most, without expecting any guarantee about the quality of the drive.
Luxury with private tent: good price, but extras
This offer shows 4.7 from 2,447 reviews and about $79 (some displays from $67). The first night is in Boumalne Dades, the second in a luxury camp in Merzouga. Lunch is not included and the air-conditioned tent is an extra: travellers disagree, one recommends it in summer, another thinks it is not worth the price. Complaints concern the long drives, the heat and water sold at 15 to 20 dirhams per 1.5-litre bottle.
What is not included, and the pitfalls
- Lunches: three days, up to three meals to pay for, roughly €30 to €39 at the €10 to €13 seen.
- Extras: guide at Aït Benhaddou (about €2), quad or buggy, 4x4 transfer to the luxury camp, air-conditioned tent, water and drinks, tips.
- Road: day 3 is about 10 hours of driving. Plan nothing for the evening you return.
- Camel ride: the ride to camp is on a camel; it is part of the tour, not a reason to choose one offer over another.
- Season: summer is very hot in the desert, and an air-conditioned tent then makes sense, while winter nights are cold.
- Alternative: if three days seem too much, the Agafay desert can be done in an evening, see our dinner show comparison and the Agafay desert page.
Which offer to choose?
- Most booked: the Morocco Trip tour (4.9 from 23,862 reviews), from about €114, or €171 to €219 for a luxury or private version.
- Tight budget: the private tent and meals formula, checking its final price for your date.
- First visit: Ando Travel, the most reviewed and clearest on what is included.
- Couple: the luxury camp or the private tent, for more comfort at night.
- Family: an offer with a private option, to adapt the stops; three days on the road remain long for young children.
- Summer trip: a camp with an air-conditioned tent, given the heat.
- Short on time: prefer Zagora or Agafay, which are shorter.
Booking at the best time
Summer is very hot in the desert and winter brings cold nights: choose the camp accordingly. Book a few days ahead in high season. Cancellation terms differ between listings: read them before paying.
