Anima Garden

Updated on October 1, 2026

On the Ourika road, some thirty kilometres from Marrakech, the Anima garden was designed by the Austrian artist André Heller. Across about three hectares, its paths combine exotic plants, palms, cacti and contemporary sculptures, with the Atlas peaks as a backdrop. A free shuttle from the medina lets you get there without a car, for a half-day visit.

Highlights

The planted paths

The planted paths

Palms, aloes, agaves and flowering beds follow one another along winding paths. Sculptures appear around the bends, such as this white head set on a column of stones. Allow 2 to 3 hours for the full circuit.

Faces in the greenery

Sculpted heads and masks appear among the foliage, at tree height. Take time to look up: many works only reveal themselves up close.

Painted silhouettes, cut-out birds and installations dot the lawns and orchards. The Café Paul Bowles serves fruit juices, teas and pastries made with produce from the garden.
