Nectarome Bio-Aromatic Garden in the Ourika Valley: visit, prices and access

In the Ourika Valley, about 35 km south-east of Marrakech and 840 metres above sea level, the Ourika bio-aromatic garden is the birthplace of Nectarome, a Moroccan organic cosmetics brand. Created in the late 1990s, it presents itself as Morocco's first organic garden of aromatic and medicinal plants. Across 1 hectare, some fifty aromatic, medicinal and ornamental species from the regional flora can be discovered by smelling, touching and sometimes tasting them. A self-guided visit takes about 45 minutes and is easy to combine with the Anima garden, on the same road, or with a day in the Ourika Valley.

Aromatic and medicinal plants

The trail presents organically grown plants and their traditional uses in Morocco, in cooking, cosmetics and herbal medicine. The 30-minute guided tour, in French or English, explains their properties in detail. A distillery runs several times a year to extract essential oils.

The valley setting and the garden's table

The garden lies in the lower Ourika Valley, at the foot of the High Atlas, among orchards and wooded hills. The restaurant serves seasonal menus and must be booked 48 hours in advance. The shop sells Nectarome cosmetics and vegetable oils.

Tips

A self-guided visit costs 35 MAD for adults and 20 MAD for children under 12; the guided tour costs 80 MAD per person (prices observed in October 2026). The garden also runs workshops on Moroccan tea, henna, bread, argan oil, a foot bath with massage or cooking, to be booked in advance: for example 100 MAD per adult for Moroccan tea (30 minutes), 120 MAD for henna (90 minutes) or bread (60 minutes), 400 MAD for the gastronomy workshop (120 minutes). The garden is closed for the whole of August: check the dates before planning the trip.

How to get there

Allow about 35 km from Marrakech along the Ourika road, towards Tnine Ourika, by car, by private taxi for the day or on a trip to the valley. The Anima garden is on the same road, a few kilometres before. Address: Douar Elhaddad, Tnine Ourika, Al Haouz province.
