The Marrakech International Marathon is run every year in January, with a half marathon on the same morning. The 37th edition is scheduled for Sunday 31 January 2027. In January 2026, the 36th edition brought together more than 16,000 runners across all races. Organised by the Le Grand Atlas association, it holds a World Athletics label and is a qualifying race for the Boston Marathon.

The course
The marathon follows a single loop, redesigned in 2026 and considered fast, which runs along the medina ramparts and passes near the Koutoubia. Runners also go through gardens and palm-lined avenues. In 2026, the women's course record fell with a time of 2 h 24 min 48 s.
The half marathon and other races
The 21.1 km half marathon starts on the same morning, shortly after the marathon. The day before, a 5 km race open to all and children's races complete the programme. Along the ramparts, spectators cheer the runners on to the finish.

Foreign runners register online with the organisers or through specialised travel agencies. For the 2027 edition, the official website lists registration at 80 euros for the marathon and 60 euros for the half marathon, plus a 5 euro processing fee (prices checked in October 2026, subject to change). Bibs are collected on the two days before the race (Friday 29 and Saturday 30 January 2027), on presentation of a passport or ID card. Book your accommodation early: the city is in high demand that weekend.
How to get there
For the 2027 edition, the organisers announce the start and finish on Avenue de la Ménara, behind the Sofitel hotel, in the Hivernage district. The site is about 25 minutes on foot from Jemaa el-Fna. The streets on the course are closed to traffic on race morning.
