Golf in Marrakech: Royal Golf and the City's Courses

Updated on October 8, 2026

Marrakech has about ten golf courses, from the Royal Golf de Marrakech, the city's oldest, to the modern layouts of Al Maaden, Amelkis, Palmeraie and Assoufid. The Royal Golf, on the old Ouarzazate road about ten minutes by taxi from the medina, was founded in 1923 and is played among century-old trees with the Atlas range as a backdrop. This page presents the Royal Golf, then the other courses worth knowing and how to book.

Highlights

Royal Golf de Marrakech

The club was founded in 1923 and opened to its first players in 1927. The layout was reworked in 1933 by Gustave Golias and the French champion Arnaud Massy. The main course has 18 holes, par 72, at about 6,300 metres. One par 3 is famous under the name "Brigitte Bardot". The club has welcomed famous visitors, including Churchill and Eisenhower, and was long one of King Hassan II's favourite courses.

Tips

Green fees vary with the course, the season and the day. As a rough guide, booking sites listed in 2026 for the Royal Golf, 18 holes, about 950 MAD from 1 October to 14 May and 750 MAD from 15 May to 30 September. Hotel and resort courses are generally more expensive. Book your tee time in advance, especially from November to April, and confirm prices in writing with the club. A handicap or a certificate from your home club may be requested. Play early in the morning: in summer, afternoons are very hot (see Marrakech in summer). For the south of the city, also read the Agdal and Menara guide. Prices and hours could not be confirmed on the club's official website; check them before booking.

How to get there

The Royal Golf is on the old Ouarzazate road, about 3 km from the medina: allow about ten minutes by petit taxi (insist on the meter or agree the price before getting in). The Al Maaden, Amelkis, Palmeraie and Assoufid courses are further out; most clubs arrange a transfer from hotels on request.

Opening hours
