Season by season
December to February: mild, but not for swimming
In the afternoon you can walk around in short sleeves, but nights stay cool and December is, with November, the wettest month. Sea at 17 to 18.5 °C is mostly for people in wetsuits. This is the season for travellers who want light: see our guide to Agadir in winter.
March to May: sun without the heat
Sunshine climbs to over 9 hours a day in April and May, the rain fades and the air stays between 23 and 24 °C. The water is still cool (17 to 18.5 °C): swimming is for the hardy, but the beaches and the seafront promenade are pleasant. These months are still good for surfing: see the best season to surf in Agadir and Taghazout.
June to September: beach season
The sea goes from 19.5 to 21.5 °C and it hardly rains. The air stays moderate (highs of 25 to 27 °C on average) thanks to the ocean. Morning mist is common along the coast and usually lifts before noon; bring a light layer for the evenings. Days of hot desert wind with over 40 °C remain possible. This is the busiest period, especially during school holidays: book early, see where to stay in Agadir.
October and November: the shoulder season
October still has a sea at 20.5 °C and highs of 26 °C, with the first rains (21 mm on average); November cools the air (24 °C) and doubles the rain. It is a good compromise between swimming and lower prices, depending on demand.

What to do in Agadir depending on the weather

When the sky is overcast or the mist is slow to lift, a day trip saves you from losing a beach morning. The day to Taroudant and the Tiout oasis leaves from Agadir hotels: see excursions from Agadir and our page on Taroudant. To cool off somewhere other than the beach, a hammam or spa is a bad-weather option (see hammam and spa in Agadir).
From Marrakech for a few days
Marrakech is 3 to 3.5 hours away by road: its climate is hotter in summer and colder at night in winter than on the coast. Compare the two cities in Essaouira or Agadir and plan the journey with bus or transfer between Marrakech and Agadir. If you are unsure about the date of your Moroccan trip, see also the weather in Marrakech.
