Gnaoua and World Music Festival: 24 to 26 June
The 28th Gnaoua and World Music Festival takes place in Essaouira from 24 to 26 June 2027, according to the festival's official website. A coastal city about 190 km from Marrakech, Essaouira is reached in about 3 hours by bus. The big open-air stages are usually free; check the programme and accommodation, which fills up quickly.
Islamic New Year: around 6 June
The Islamic New Year is expected around Sunday 6 June 2027; it is a public holiday, but barely noticeable to a traveller. The date depends on the sighting of the moon. No 2027 edition of the Marrakech Comedy Festival had been announced in October 2026.
