Crowds, prices and school holidays

The 2027 French winter holidays are staggered: zone C (including Paris) from Saturday 6 to Monday 22 February, zone A from Saturday 13 February to Monday 1 March, zone B from Saturday 20 February to Monday 8 March. Marrakech, about three hours by plane from Paris, attracts many families during these weeks: medina riads book up early and prices rise. Conversely, during Ramadan, tourist numbers often fall and prices drop. There are no Moroccan school holidays in February. To compare with other months, see the best time to visit Marrakech.

Ramadan 2027: around 8 February

Ramadan 2027 is expected to start around Monday 8 February and last until about 9 March. In Morocco the date is confirmed the day before after the crescent moon is sighted: it can vary by a day. Monuments stay open, sometimes with reduced hours; many small medina restaurants close during the day, while those in hotels and Gueliz keep serving. Avoid eating, drinking or smoking conspicuously in the street. In the evening, after the fast is broken, the city comes alive until late. During the month Morocco goes back to GMT: in 2026 the change took place on 15 February, and the 2027 dates will be announced a few weeks beforehand. Everything is detailed in our guide to Ramadan in Marrakech.

Other events in February 2027

There is no national public holiday in February. The 1-54 contemporary African art fair, which was held in February in 2026, is announced for 18 to 21 March 2027: do not look for it this month. The marathon takes place on 31 January: the city calms down the next day. For the rest of the year, see our Marrakech events calendar.
