Crowds, prices and school holidays

March is the start of the spring high season. The Moroccan Ministry of Education holidays run from 21 to 28 March 2027, and Easter falls on Sunday 28 March: Moroccan families and European travellers end up in the same riads. French spring holidays start on 3 April for zone C; the end of zone B's winter holidays (until 8 March) overlaps the first week of the month. During the 1-54 fair, hotels near La Mamounia are in high demand. See the best time to visit Marrakech to place March in the year.

End of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr

Ramadan 2027 is expected to end around 9 March, and Eid al-Fitr is expected around 9 or 10 March. The exact date is confirmed the day before, depending on the sighting of the moon. During the two days of celebration, many medina shops close and some sites adjust their hours; families visit each other and trains and coaches are packed. Morocco returns to GMT+1 at the end of the holy month: in 2026 this happened on 22 March, and the 2027 date will be announced a few weeks beforehand.
