Sidi Ghanem is the industrial zone in north-west Marrakech, in the Ménara district, along the Safi road (RN7), about 5 km from the medina. Laid out between 1988 and 1990 over 175 hectares and more than 500 plots, it was slow to fill until, from the mid-2000s, designers set up their workshops and showrooms there: furniture, decoration, lighting, ceramics, textiles, fashion, fragrance. Between warehouses and garages, you buy directly from the people who make the goods, in a setting that has nothing in common with the souks. The streets have neither clear signage nor logical numbering: addresses are given by plot number.
Highlights

Ceramics and tableware
The LRNCE brand has its studio of hand-painted ceramics and textiles here. Poterie Serghini, run by an eighth-generation potter, takes custom orders, and Kessy Beldi sells glassware blown from recycled glass, in forest green or amber. The photo shows painted plates in a medina souk, not a shop in Sidi Ghanem.

Lighting and furniture
Kader Oudania makes custom lighting with traditional tools and vintage machinery; Atelier Balagan gathers lighting, furniture and objects from the 1950s to the 1970s. The photo, taken in the souks, illustrates pierced metalwork, not a workshop in the district.
Studio Rachad
Founded in 2015 by architect Hamza Rachad, this interior architecture studio shows its furniture in wood, zellige and marble over three levels (workshop, showroom and gallery). You can see how traditional zellige is used in contemporary shapes.
Jajjah and the fashion shops
Artist Hassan Hajjaj's concept store combines a photography gallery, a shop and a tea room serving simple Moroccan food. For fashion, Topolina reworks vintage fabrics into clothing, and L'Atelier de l'Héritage Berbère creates perfumes and home scents.

Tips
Prices are displayed and fixed: there is no haggling, and cards are widely accepted. Some premises are mainly wholesale depots for export or for interior design professionals: ask at the door whether they sell retail. For furniture or large pieces, many workshops arrange shipping abroad; get the cost and delivery time in writing. The district is large and finding a taxi back is difficult: ask your taxi to wait or book a driver for half a day, and prepare your list of addresses with their plot numbers. For more classic crafts, see the Ensemble Artisanal and what to bring back from Marrakech; for a wider shopping route, design shopping in Marrakech.
